Conference Title: “Words for the World: The Ministry of Writing”
Part One: Why Should I Write?
1. To better Prepare for communication
(Writing as a form of study)
2. To Preserve communication
(Left unsaid and unsaved, words have a limited life expectancy)
3. To Expand the base of communication
(a message worth giving is worth spreading)
4. To Extend the life of communication
(We are all three generations from extinction)
5. (not included) to supplement your income
(Money is never a valid motivation for writing)
Part Two: What Should I Write?
1. My Story
(Everyone has a story that needs sharing)
2. My Message
(We have God-given messages for others to hear)
3. My Dreams
(Ideas come and go; writing them down helps preserve them)
4. My Legacy
(How do you want to be remembered?)
Part Three: How should I write?
1. Start with Prayer
(A good way to begin anything worthwhile)
2. Consider your Audience
(Let your words fall on prepared hearts)
3. Outline
(Focus on the message)
4. Begin with the beginning: not necessarily
(It may be necessary to skip ahead to the meat)
5. Proof it/Proof it/ Proof it
(Let others take part)
6. Back it up
(What’s the worst that can happen to my manuscript?)
Part Four: What next?
1. The perils of publishing
(“Over the transom” vs “shotgun” vs “DIY”)
2. The joys of readership: real and potential
(In this age, publishing is but one method)
3. Written word to spoken word
(Not everyone will read something before they hear it)
